Our Preferred Broiler Breeds

We’ve raised various breeds of chickens at Rock Bottom Ranch, and we’ve enjoyed a handful of different breeds that reach maturity between 10-12 weeks.

There are various breeds to choose from when raising broilers. We have raised many different breeds and prefer the ones that take around 10-12 weeks to reach maturity. They develop a balance of carcass weight and fat. They grow a bit faster than heritage breeds, but a bit slower than cornish cross breeds. Some of the breeds we really like include Freedom Ranger, Jackie Chicken, and Red Ranger.
