Weather: Windy and cloudy with driving rain
Location: Rock Bottom Ranch
It is not often that a birding outing is cancelled due to weather, but this morning we opted to stay dry and take rain checks when driving rain blew in just as we were gathering to go birding at Rock Bottom Ranch. While watching the weather change, we saw a red-tailed hawk floating on the wind, ravens winging across the pastures, fourteen wild turkeys near the vegetable plots, rock doves flying over the chicken coops, and magpies moving about in the scrub oaks. In addition to the dramatic sky and leaves being blown off the trees, we were treated to a spectacular double rainbow! Join us next Tuesday for Morning Birding at Hallam Lake!
