Morning Birding Species List | August 26, 2014
August 27, 2014
Tuesday, August 26, 2014, 7AM – 10AM
Weather: partly cloudy
Location: Hallam Lake, Maroon Creek Wetlands
Great Blue Heron (pictured above)
Comments: Many juvenile birds are on the wing, sometimes seen in groups with parents with lots of vocalizing to cue birders. We saw young yellow warblers, crows, swallows, and waxwings. Behaviors are very entertaining at this time of year with the juveniles are gaining skills and many birds are feeding heavily in preparation for migration. It’s a great time to spot different migratory species coming through from the north, so join us in the next several weeks as the excitement ramps up!
