Comments: Bird activity at Hallam Lake was incredible this morning! The eastern kingbirds are still around at the lake and feeding actively. What seemed to be a family of flickers was also particularly active, as well as a flock of cedar waxwings that was hawking airborne insects over the water. Kingfishers were also feeding, hitting the water for fish numerous times. At North Star Nature Preserve, red-winged blackbirds were feeding and moving in a large flock. Red-tailed hawks and great blue herons were observed several times for a great visual show. This outing was a particularly rich experience for birders, in terms of both species and behaviors observed.
