Summer Naturalist Hikes

Hike with an ACES Naturalist! Get to know more about the Roaring Fork Valley by hiking with a naturalist guide.

Meet us for one of our daily free hikes, or reserve a private hike. Our guides know the area and have a wealth of stories and information to share about the wildlife and history of the area. ACES offers free nature tours at Maroon Bells, Aspen Mountain, and Snowmass Mountain. ACES also offers private guided experiences (see below).

Green World Day Hike

Join an ACES Naturalist guide for a hike through the Ashcroft ghost town up to the famed Pine Creek Cookhouse. After wandering along Castle Creek through wildflower meadows and mountain vistas, enjoy a prixe fixe lunch at the Cookhouse. The hike duration is 2 hours, with departure dependent on restaurant reservation time.

River Run Sunset Hike

Join an ACES Naturalist guide for the evening version of our “Green World Day Hike” through the Ashcroft ghost town up to the famed Pine Creek Cookhouse. After wandering along Castle Creek through wildflower meadows and mountain vistas, enjoy dinner at the Cookhouse. The hike duration is 2 hours, with departure dependent on restaurant reservation time.
