Cultivating Place: Gardening as an Intersectional Agent of Change with Jennifer Jewell.

Please join ACES at Rock Bottom Ranch to hear Jennifer Jewell speak as a part of the Jessica Catto Dialogue series on Wednesday, August 11 at 6pm.

Jennifer Jewell, author and award-winning radio host, will speak about the natural environment, gardens, and plants and how they are powerful agents for positive change in our world, helping to address challenges such as climate change, habitat loss, cultural polarization, and well-being.

Jennifer will also explore what inspires activists, artists, and scientists to garden. If you’ve never impulse-bought a plant for the garden you haven’t started, this may inspire you to get your hands dirty. Come to explore how gardening can be a gateway to a deeper understanding of the world around us, and our place in it.

There’s a new episode of “Cultivating Place” out now, featuring Isa Catto & Mojo Gardens in Woody Creek, CO. Read more about the podcast & listen here.

About our Jessica Catto Dialogue Speaker Series

Founded in memory of Jessica Hobby Catto, ACES’ Jessica Catto Dialogues (JCD) lecture series brings environmental leaders to Aspen to inspire positive change. Each year, Aspen residents and visitors come together to engage in an open dialogue about our most pressing environmental concerns. With past presenters including Gina McCarthy, Carl Safina, Joel Salatin, Bill McKibben, Terry Tempest Williams and others, this series highlights the work of leaders in environmental and climate science, regenerative agriculture, economics, and ecosystem health, specifically focusing on those who are involved in promoting civic action and social justice.

The series is funded by the Catto Charitable Foundation in Jessica’s memory and is curated in partnership with Jessica’s daughter and son-in-law, Isa and Daniel Shaw. Jessica was a staunch environmental and social rights advocate, courageous in her resolve to be an effective voice for change. She served on the Boards of Conservation International, the National Parks Conservation Association, World Resources Institute, the Conservation Fund, the Environmental Defense Fund, and ACES. As a longstanding member at The Aspen Institute, she also established the Catto Fellowship for a Sustainable Future. Learn more about the Jessica Catto Dialogue Speaker Series.
