After-school program partnership with

Join ACES educators Rose and Amanda to create nature-inspired art and explore wilderness skills!

Over this 3-week after-school program series, we will learn survival skills like orienteering, cordage-making, and shelter-building, and make art inspired by the world around us – our own natural dyes made from plants, linoleum block-printing, and more. Students must be currently enrolled in grades 4-8 and registered AYC members.

4/15 – Natural dyes: Come use onion skins, avocado pits, turmeric, and more to steam-dye bandanas to take home!

4/22 – Birding and printmaking: Conduct a quick survey of any plants or animals (specifically birds) that we can see around AYC, then come inside and make linoleum prints inspired by the birds or other nature elements we are inspired by.

4/29 – Wilderness skills: Come explore survival skills on a hike on Maroon Creek Trail! We will practice shelter building, cordage-making, plant identification, using compasses, and orienteering skills.
