Isa Catto and Daniel Shaw will share stories and photos from a recent trip to Manu National Park and Biosphere Reserve in southeastern Peru, where they spent time with a small group of amazing young local women who are training to be field scientists as part of a program launched last year by renowned Amazon expert Adrian Forsyth. Isa and Daniel helped Adrian get this program off the ground as a living tribute to their friend and, in Adrian’s case, colleague, Tom Lovejoy, who coined the term “biodiversity.” Manu is one of the most biodiverse places on Earth, and these women are tracking how climate change is impacting the region by tracking the movements of some of the keystone flora and fauna, including the threatened Andean spectacled bear.
