Comments: Birds are in full-swing with summer breeding activity! A special highlight were the common mergansers on Hallam Lake and the sharp-shinned hawk that moved through, perching briefly on a tree on the levee where we were treated to great views of it.
A special guest star on this outing was Luis Morales of the San Pancho Bird Observatory in San Fransisco, Nayarit, Mexico. Mr. Morales shared information about ‘our’ summer birds that are also ‘his’ winter birds. He loved hearing the songs of his birds, since they don’t sing during the non-breeding season in Mexico; and we loved filling in the year-round picture for a more complete understanding of the lives of migratory birds.
