Comments:

Today’s highlights included an excellent swallow study with Tree and Violet-green Swallows feeding at low, close range as well as perched for great views of plumage colors in excellent light. We observed behaviors of nesting swallow pairs at nest boxes.  We also observed young goslings and ducklings in fluffy yellow down and discussed these ‘precocial’ species. We also observed active nests of Brown Creeper and Cedar Waxwing. A Western Meadowlark east of North Star Nature Preserve was an especially unusual sighting for the high elevation. Join us next week at Rock Bottom Ranch, meeting in the RBR parking lot at 6:30AM!
