Comments:
Highlights from today’s Morning Birding outing included several families of Canada geese with fuzzy yellow goslings; a sparrow study with excellent observations of song, chipping and fox sparrows; a check on the heronry at James Smith Open Space where the birds are incubating eggs; several good observations of ruby-crowned kinglets; and a comparison between violet-green and tree swallows. We delighted in the return of many bird species since the April outing, and look forward to more great sightings as ACES’ Birding Program shifts into high gear. The next outing will be on May 19th, followed by the Spring Migration Count on May 29th, and then weekly Morning Birding thereafter through the first week of October. Full day birding classes up Independence Pass will be offered June 18th and July 16th.
