Comments:
The James Smith Property was our intended destination, but with three moose on the East of Aspen Trail we birded in the other direction to give the moose lots of space. Highlights of the morning included many singing Fox Sparrows, Cedar Waxwings, yellow warblers, great blue herons, and an active red-tailed hawk nest across the valley floor. Our scopes came in handy with all of the long-distance sightings, and a few birds gave us great close-up views as well. We learned about the vibrant habitats of North Star and the many birds that are part of the biodiversity supported by this important open space property. Join us next Thursday to explore the western end of North Star!
