Garret Buckner

Livestock Apprentice

Growing up on his family’s land in Alabama, Garret developed a deep love for nature and working outdoors to maintain a beautiful and healthy environment. Upon graduating from the University of Alabama with a degree in finance and economics, Garret spent three years working as an analyst in Nashville, Tennessee. However, over time, Garret felt a calling to return to the outdoors. Driven by a deep curiosity in food production systems and sustainable farming, Garret made the decision to shift careers and leave his life in the financial world. Through a volunteering opportunity with a local regenerative ranch in Alabama, Garret became familiar with working with livestock and how to sustainably raise chickens, pigs, and sheep. Stumbling upon ACES while researching sustainable agriculture, Garret was inspired by the organization’s mission to educate and eagerly pursued the position of livestock apprentice at Rock Bottom Ranch.

Outside of work, Garret enjoys running, lifting weights, cooking – especially with products from the ranch – and passionately rooting on The University of Alabama in any and all sports. Now living in Colorado, Garret looks forward to exploring the many hiking, biking, and camping opportunities the area has to offer and hopes to be a capable fly fisherman by the fall.
